Medtronic Posse

2nd Annual Medtronic European Internet Forum

Hey Folks

At the weekend I attended the Second Annual Medtronic European Internet Forum in Switzerland. After last years antics many attendees were in fact invited back for more bouts of tube tangling.

This year I had the privilege to meet some new faces as well as having the opportunity to chatter with older acquaintances.

The Friday was spent in Geneva and was most glorious, with your very own Spanish representative supplying the weather for the day. As the group finally assembled early evening dinner was provided so the group could catch up with what has been going on together with the opportunity to get to know the new additions to the group.

Unfortunately it was most likely the fault of the UK representatives who delivered such miserable weather, however undeterred we set off towards the now infamous Puppy Drowning Center otherwise known as Medtronic HQ.

A brief round of introductions and the day was underway.

We were treated to information that will have to stay with us for the moment, but sure enough Continuous Glucose Sensor technology was discussed and were able to pick the brains of Julien Vandewalle who is one of the Product Managers at Medtronic HQ.

Next up was Hannah Gough who was able to tell us about what clinical evidence is required and what will come up next for Medtronic. She was also able provide us with an overview of the reimbursement of insulin pumps and CGM in Europe which in the defence of Big Pharma is extremely complex especially when dealing with multiple countries, multiple governments and healthcare systems.

So on that note I would like to thank Everyone’’s second favorite eMarketing Specialist from Medtronic Yoan for a splendid weekend, superbly pieced together. Medtronic for the board and lodge, all who attended from Medtronic that gave up their Saturday to be with us and hopefully they will have benefited from the sessions as much as we did.

Lastly I want to thank all you guys who attended. Tim, Alison, Jan, Richard, Adrienne & Jessica (plus family), Anna, Lesley and Andrew.. Thank you! You are all great people in every sense and the day would not have been as successful without your attendance. Pure Joy!

Thanks for sharing all of the Minimed conference adventures, Mike! I’ve mentioned it on some of the other dblogs out there covering this, but I’ll repeat it here: I’m very happy to see MM venturing into this online world with us and being so willing to just talk about the issues that matter to us, as consumers and D-patients. Will be interesting to compare stories/accounts of how this one in Europe compares to what MM is doing in the U.S. soon. Either place, we’re being represented – which is AWESOME! Thanks for doing what you are doing.

      Hey Michael

Thanks for stopping by. For sure it will be great to compare notes. Obviously the dynamics are different but I guess at the end of the day we are all after the same thing. 🙂
