I have the pleasure of being invited to participate in the 1st ever Diabetes & The Internet Forum by Medtronic. Taking place in Lausanne, Switzerland this coming weekend.
The main discussing points for this inaugural event are;
- State of the diabetes industry – diabetes technology overview
- How the internet changed our lives – as patients
Obviously there will be lots more taking place and plenty more chatter I’m sure.
I’m delighted that Tim from Shoot Up or Put Up will be joining me together with his easel as we make our way along Lake Geneva.
You can of course find out more from Tim directly, because he writes better than me! Yay for Tim! Please do stop by the Shoot up site and you will more than likely be able to follow the Lausanne shenanigans this coming weekend.

Nah, Mike, you write much better than me!
Ha Ha!
The funniest thing I’ve heard all day.
Hey Mike,
our little girl was diagnosed 3 years ago shortly after her 3rd birthday and has always used a medtronic mini-med. Maybe you can ask when they are coming out with a ‘real’ remote like accu-check! We like her pump but will change over to accu-check if Medtronic does not introduce a remote with a display. She is starting school in the fall and it would be nice not to have to reach up under her dresses to get at her pump!
Hi Kristina, thanks for stopping by!
We’ll certainly see what we can find out for you.
Gosh, I am proud of what you guys are doing, envious as well. I will notify Global Diabetes Awareness about this adventure – and you. My lead from Sacramento County California is Mark-John Clifford, Patti Clifford, and Thomas Moore. A. K. Buckroth.
Thank you Andrea. It’s a great opportunity and one that should be fully taken advantage of.
Thanks for attending and updating those of us in the Diabetes Online Community, especially those of us in the States! Looking forward to hearing how it goes. Roche Diagnostics, which has its U.S. headquarters in Indiana, has been working on something similiar for a year or so – group of about 40 of us going to a Social Media Summit this year. Should be a blast, talking about how we all can work together and what the DOC can do. See you around the online D-Universe!
Thanks for stopping by Michael and thanks for the kind words. I could only observe and read about the Roche event and will admit that I was kinda envious!
This is a great opportunity for everyone involved to really start pushing the boundaries for Diabetes Care.
Congrats!!
Sounds like a fantastic experience and I wish I was attending! I have no doubt you and Tim will take copious notes and share them with us!
Looking forward to reading all about it!
Kelly K
Hey there Kelly K!!
Yeah a rare opportunity to meet up with Big Pharma, I guess! Really looking forward to it and will hopefully return better educated, more informed.
Also as you know, it allows us Pancreatically Challenged Hordes a chance to have a good ol chat!
There will be copious amounts of something, but I can ‘t guarantee it will be “notes”…
Hi Mike,
The Medtronic Event was really great and I felt very lucky to have been part of it. I just hope that it continues and both us Bloggers & Medtronic can help each other.
As for Medtronic in Lausanne, Switzerland – wow what can I say it was lovely, I was also happily surprised at just how open Medtronic were towards us.
Keep up the good work and let’s hope the events continue.
